A late medieval gold finger-ring, in the form of a band with a concave profile. The exterior surface is decorated with engraved flowers, leaves and hearts, interspersed among a black letter inscription which reads 'honur et joie' ('honour and joy'). Traces of red, white and black(?) enamel survive in the engraved areas. The ring may have been a marriage ring.

Dimensions: Maximum diameter: 19mm. Height: 5mm.

The find therefore qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996 in terms of both age and precious metal content.
