A post-medieval stock clasp cast in copper alloy. One of the outer edges is straight and slightly flared, with a rectangular hook on the underside. The opposite edge then flares outwards and forms a much wider, highly decorated trilobate edge. There are three rivets on this edge. The front surface is covered with an incised decoration, with some areas of diamond cross-hatching. The reverse is undecorated, but the rivets have bulbous ends on this face. The clasp has a dark brownish-green patina. Compare NMS-4B991B, BUC-2721D5, WAW-9B4F32 and SUSS-007854.

A stock was a band of linen, pleated horizontally, which fitted tightly around the neck, closely over the collar of the shirt and under the collar of the jacket. Most stocks were white, but military stocks were black. They could be fastened with buckles or clasps, and the large rivets are characteristic. They date to the 18th or 19th centuries.
