Post Medieval hooked tag. The main body is rectangular with semi-circular knops at each angle, and a further knop projecting from the two longest edges. The upper surface has an impressed design, comprising a six lobed globular design. The projecting hook is soldered onto the reverse. The front of the hook is partially covered by a moulded design extending from the main body. It is cast in silver, with gilding on the upper surface.

British Museum report on 2008 T453; post-medieval silver dress-hook from Tendring district, Essex:
Silver-gilt dress-hook, book-shaped with projecting knops and central impressed design. Recurving hook soldered to back, original bar attachment missing. A common type reported through the Treasure Act as 16th Century: see TAR 2003, no. 239.
As such, due to its age and precious metal content, this object qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
