A copper alloy Medieval or early post medieval dagger guard. The guard is sub-triangular with rounded corners. There is an sub-rectangular perforation through the centre where the tang of the handle would be attached, and the hole widens on the flat side for the dagger blade to fit. The guard has minimal decoration, with only a groove running along the flat edge all the way around. There is a light green patina over most of the guard and it is in fairly good condition. No close published parallel has been found, but there is a similar example on the database (PAS record NCL-DF2D24), and further examples can be seen on page 39 of the London Museum Medieval Catalogue (Ward Perkins 1940).
