An Early Medieval (Anglo Saxon) silver pyramidal scabbard fitting (late 6th - early 7th century). The mount is hollow with a bar for attachment across the reverse. Each of the four sides is set with a garnet over waffle patterned metal foil, possibly gold. The garnet are 13.5mm wide at their base and 3.2mm at the top. There is another small square garnet overlaying foil the at top of the mount measuring 3.2mm x 3.6mm. The base of the mount is 16.8mm square, it rises to a height of 8.6mm and weighs 5.4g.
This pryamid has been allocated by Mortimer to his type 1iv, with simple cloisonné (Mortimer 2019, 295). It is similar to one found in Headbourne Worthy, Hampshire (TAR 2003:84 no.116).
