Copper alloy Polden Hill brooch. Semi-cylindrical wings housing spring mechanism. Chord held in place by a rectangular pierced lug at the head of the brooch. Axis bar for the spring passes through a lower piercing in the lug. The head and tapering bow are decorated with a raised triangular central rib from which the lug protrudes. The rid has a central groove with a band of lateral incised lines either side. The rib extends to about half the length of bow which tapers sharply to a foot knob. The foot knob has a flange above and is pointed. There is a small catchplate at the back with a triangular pierced hole. Pin is missing. Originally silvered/tinned.
