Medieval finger-ring, consisting of a wire hoop and an oval 'pie-shaped' bezel. The bezel has lost its stone, which is pale blue/green and is retained separately.
The finger-ring is gold and dates from the thirteenth century.
The loop is 23.8 by 22.8mm externally and circular in section (1.9mm). The bezel is 8.5mm by 6.8mm by 6.2mm tall. The ring abuts the bezel to each side with flattened and expanded rectangular terminals attached to the sides of the bezel. There is a rectangular beak to one side of the bezel, possibly a repair. The bezel is deep for the stone and a whitish substance inside may be the remains of a pase that held the stone in position. The ring weighs 3.09 grams. The stone is oval and translucent with some damage to the sides. Both sides are convex but one is distinctly domed while the other is almost flat. The stone is 5.2mm by 3.6mm and weighs 0.08 grams.
