Post medieval coin weight; struck copper alloy coin weight for a Scottish thistle crown of James I. The weight is circular with markings on both faces. The obverse has a thistle with 'I. / .R' to either side. The reverse has a crown above the denomination 'IIII S / 4D1/2'. Per Withers, the circular weights for this coin, although marked for James I were actually made after 1632, during the reign of Charles I. Diameter 14.3mm, thickness 1.3mm, weight 1.51g Ref: Withers 'Lions, Ships and Angels', page 35.
