One sherd of Gallo-Belgic Eggshell Terra Nigra (or similar). A hard fired, clean fabric, with fine polished surfaces. The sherd is a section of rim and wall of a small flanged vessel (a small hemispherical cup or similar), with a flange at mid-riff and plain rim. Gallo Belgic Eggshell Terra Nigra is imported from Gaul in the first century (circa 43-70 AD), with later (usually cruder) imitations produced into the early second century. This sherd is of fine quality, and is almost certainly not a later imitation.
