A post-medieval copper-alloy mount, from a wick trimmer (17th/18th century). It measures 59x13.6x2.3mm and weighs 10.16g. It is missing the central projection of one of its trefoil knops. The mount is D-shaped in section, being flat to the underside with bevelled edges (flanked with a longintudinal groove) on the opposite face. This face is decorated with six ring-and-dots arranged longitudinally. The mount is divided into two sections, so each has three ring-and-dot and the two are separated by a transverse groove, which is bound on the bevelled edge by a tiny transverse rib. These also occur at the other end of each section, before the trefoil knop projects. Each trefoil knop has a hole (2.5mm diameter) in each projection, though this hole does not pierce the mount to the other side. To one side only are two rivet holes, at each end just before the trefoils. One has the rivet intact. Both have traces of solder around the holes. The reverse of the mount shows the intact rivet and the rivet hole at each corner of a ']' shape - a strip of solder, with which it was attached to the box that would have held the trimmings. There are also file marks behind one trefoil.
