A complete halfpenny trade token of Stephen Barton, Newport, Isle of Wight. Dated 1664. Stephen Barton married Elizabeth Burt of Winton, at Winton, on 1st June 1639. He had premises in Newport High Street and was a member of Newport Corporation from 1647 until 1654, when he was dismissed from being a Chief Burgess of the Borough, by the Corporation, for his "evil carrieage" (Champion 1995: 36, ref: 98).
