Late Iron Age to early Roman (20-70AD) copper alloy Colchester one piece brooch. There head is comprised of two small rectangular wings and a forward facing hook. There is a six sprung pin, with the external chord passing through the forward facing hook. The pin is practically complete, with only the tip missing. The body of the broooch is comprised of a curved bow which tapers towards the foot. There is a triangular catchlate on the reverse, with a folded over edge to secure the pin. The catchplate is openwork with three rectangular perforations. The brooch is 13.63mm wide across the head, 5.39mm wide at the apex of the bow and 1.78mm wide at the foot. The bow is 4.11mm thick, and it has a depth of 17.96mm. The brooch is 53.99mm long and weighs 8.72 grams.
