Fragment of a Mesolithic (8300-3500 BC) flint blade . The fragment is 25.4mm long, 13.4mm wide, 2.8mm thick and weighs 0.96g. This is a tertiary flake with no cortex and the arrises on the dorsal face suggest numerous flakes had been removed from the core prior to this one. There is a lot of damage to the proximal end of the dorsal face, possibly due to the way it was struck. The bulb of percussion, with bulb scars, and shock waves are clearly visible on the ventral face. The blade has been snapped with a clean break after striking but it is not clear if this was deliberate.
