SCRAPER (TOOL)

Unique ID: NLM-511686

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A flint end scraper of Neolithic to Early Bronze Age date. The opaque light grey flint has a thin darker grey patina on most of the dorsal and nearly all of the ventral face. The dorsal face has invasive semi-steep scaled retouch on the distal end and also some of the lower left edge. The retouch exposes the lighter grey flint underneath the patina, which suggests that it was done at a later date to when the flake was stuck. The ventral is mostly plain with a small bulb of percussion and some small flakes removed from the distal end, which again exposes the lighter grey flint. The length is 27.3mm, the width is 23.4mm, the thickness is 5.9mm and the weight is 4.35g.
