A Roman copper alloy bracelet, probably dating from the 3rd or 4th century. The bracelet is of cable type and is fragmentary and is without the terminals. It is 45.4mm long, 37.3mm wide and 3.1mm thick. The bracelet is circular in section. The cable comprises of three intertwined strands of oval section. At one end of the surviving fragment, the cable strands are wrapped around a central core which projects from the centre, but there is no evidence of the core at the other end. The surface of the bracelet has a dark brown or black patina with areas of dark green. The bracelet can be paralleled with examples excavated at Colchester (Crummy 1983, p 38, nos. 1610-1613) and elsewhere. The Colchester examples were recovered from 4th and early 5th century grave deposits. Other similar examples on the database are NMGW-9C95A6, SF-D55964 and ESS-2598C7.
