Treasure case 2006 T223 Gold Band Dimensions: 20mm x 15mm x 1mm x 0.7mm Date: Indeterminate date Description: Plain gold band now oval in shape although the band is damaged and distorted. The band is 1mm in width and 0.7mm thick, having a flat underneath and inner perimeter, with a curved face, giving the band a wedge-shaped cross-section. There are no signs of there being a suspension loop or any other broken method of attachment, suggesting that the band is a ferrule or fitting from an object such as a pendant or a knife. The band is of indeterminate date but in the balance of probabilities is over 300 years old and consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal, it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996
