An incomplete cast copper alloy Early Medieval Anglo Saxon ring of unknown function. The plain ring is rectangular in section and is heavily worn with only traces of the original dark green surface patina surviving. The ring has sustained some damage on the outer edge and the surface is pitted in places. The diameter is 29.0mm, the internal diameter is 19.1mm, the thickness is 4.6mm and the weight is 7.22g. The purpose of the ring is unknown but one suggestion is that they were used to secure clothing and many are found in Anglo Saxon graves (Leahy, 2007, p. 157). As the find was found amongst several Anglo Saxon brooch fragments it is likely to be Anglo Saxon in date.
