A corroded pair of Roman copper-alloy tweezers. Similar examples were found in excavations at Colchester (see Crummy, 1983, p. 62). The object has been made from a strip of sheet metal which has been folded double. At the top is a sub-oval aperture containing a copper-alloy suspension ring. Below this the two sides touch before diverging towards the bottom. The blades, which are slightly narrower than the rest of the object, angle inwards. Overall, the object measures 48.7mm long, 11.1mm wide and 6.4mm thick. The weight is 3.4g.
