post-medieval silver-gilt pin fragment Upper half of a hollow pin head, originally hemispherical comprising two sections welded together. The outside decorated with applied filigree decoration of circles and knops, gilt. Diam: 10 mm. Half of the head of a dress pin of a type frequently reported through the Treasure Act, eg. Treasure Annual Report 1998-9. no. 228 for complete pin from Mather, Monmouthshire. This section indicates how the pinheads were made out of hollow cast elements. 16th Century. In terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
