Medieval finger ring, which survives in fragmentary form and is bent out of shape. It is inscribed with the words:
iaspar:baltasar ......
the names of two of the Magi. The name of the third magi, Melchior, is missing.
The ring fragment is silver, and dates from the late 15th or early 16th century.
Dimensions: length 46 mm, depth 6 mm.
Notes:
In terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
