Small copper-alloy purse bar of Ward-Perkins's Type B4 (Ward-Perkins 1940, 167-9). It has a small rectangular loop, with a shank below which has a concave-sided, circular-section waist and then a constriction to allow it to pass through the bar, with an integral rove at the bottom. The bar is very flimsy - just 3.5 x 2 mm in maximum cross-section, and 45 mm long with a narrowing at either end to receive the frame. No terminals to the bar (which would have held the frame in place) survive. Ward-Perkins dates these to c. 1500-1550.
