A Post Medieval copper alloy frame brooch (16th century). The frame is decoratively moulded to form a pointed oval with the point curved round. At the top is a patriotic rose or possibly a flaming sacred heart with the point projecting inside the frame perhaps turning the pointed oval frame into a heart-shape. The entire front surface of the frame has been cast with moulded decoration continuing in the same style as the rose/heart at the top, there are also pellets arranged equidistantly along the mid line of the frame. A perforation for the pin is located on the upper left side. The original pin is missing and a piece of blunt wire has been wrapped through the hole to replace the pin. Dimensions: length: 33.85mm; width: 24.07mm; thickness: 3.49mm; weight: 5.00g. Identification by Geoff Egan, PAS Finds Advisor Medieval and Post Medieval Artefacts and Jackie Keily, Curator, Museum of London.
