Unique ID: SF6491

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Published Find published

Lead spindle whorl or weight. Tall and plano-convex, the flat oval base measures 20 x 22 mm and has a groove around the central circular perforation. The perforation is 9 mm in diameter both at the base and at the rounded top. The spindle whorl is 16 mm long, and weighs39.14g (1.38 oz). There are some cut marks around the sides at the base, where it looks as if some lead has been shaved off to adjust the shape or weight.
