Fragment of wheel probably made of a lead tin alloy, possibly of a copper alloy, possibly part of a post-medieval toy. The item appears to flimsy to be part of a circular buckle or a cog. The remaining section is 28.4mm long by 9.9mm wide by 2.3mm thick and weighs 1.2 grams. The piece is curved with a D shaped section with a flat inner side and old breaks at either end. It has regular 'teeth' on the outer edge formed by alternating indentations from each side. There is the remains of a cross bar which is circular in section and 1.8mm in diameter. Dating unidentified objects is always speculative but the form and material suggests a post medieval date.
