An incomplete silver penny of Elizabeth I (1558-1603). The initial mark is incomplete but it is probably a sword, which would date the coin to 1581/2, during the second coinage issue (North ref 2001).

Notes:

There is a small wedge beyond the initial mark, adjoining the inner beaded circle on the obverse of the coin.
