Medieval cast copper alloy thimble, probably of 15th or early 16th century date The thimble is near-complete with a length of 20.1mm and a weight of 8.0g. The rim is slightly damaged and has a diameter of 20.5mm. The walls have a thickness of 1.8mm. The rim is plain and has no incised border. The thimble has ten rows of hand-punched indentations, which end before the rounded top of the thimble, giving a plain apex of 6.8mm diameter. The thimable has good surface preservation with a pale to mid-green patina.

Notes:

The thimble is similar to Holmes’ (FDS 9, 1991) type 2a.
