Medieval annular brooch frame, probably of 13th or 14th century date The frame is complete although the surface has been lost. The frame is circular with a diameter of 16.6mm (internal diameter of 11.6mm), a thickness of 1.5mm and weighs 0.7g. The rear of the frame is bevelled and plain. The pin restriction has a width of 2.1mm and the bar has a diameter of 1.7mm. The opposite side of the frame has no notch for the pin. The front of the brooch was decorated with raised delicate ribbing, possibly forming letters to define a legend but now difficult to discern. The brooch frame has poor surface preservation, a small area of gilding survives near the pin restriction.
