A worn and corroded but complete cast copper-alloy mid-late Anglo-Saxon strap end. The strap-end is essentially a flat oval in shape with a V shaped split front to back and two circular rivet holes through the top edge for attachment. The reverse is plain and the front carries a pointed zoomorphic head with snout and flattened ears as the terminal whilst the main body of the strap-end is decorated with interlacing design of probable Trewhiddle style. This type of strap end falls into the classification category Thomas Class A Type 1. Dated c.700-900 AD.
