Incomplete medieval purse bar, comprising circular-sectioned bar with constriction that passes through a separate tubular terminal with rounded end and retains perforated fragment of the terminal from a separate frame. The bar is broken at the other end (central boss and other half missing) and projects from the open mouth of a very stylised animal head, and is decorated with oblique double engraved lines inlaid with niello forming lozengiform cross-hatching, lower flange for suspension is broken across one of two perforations. >81 x >12mm. LMMC (1967) Type A1, plate 33, 164-5. Late 15th century.
