A flint Side scraper of late Neolithic to early Bronze Age (Beaker period) date. Part of a large assemblage of Mesolithic to Bronze Age flintwork*. The tool is made from a large sub-oval flake. The dorsal surface retains much of the original cortex, although a flake has been removed to create a platform for the thumb. Re-touch is confined to the bottom and top edges, where long, narrow flakes have been removed. At the bottom, this re-touch continues on to the ventral surface. The top left hand edge, which is otherwise unworked, shows signs of wear. The flint is light brownish-grey in colour. The artefact measures 42.7mm long, 35.6mm wide and 11.8mm thick. The weight is 16.89g. *See also: BH-D7D6B1, BH-D80626, BH-D85097, BH-2C8256, BH-2DC9D5, BH-2E2601, BH-2E5412, BH-2E7BB6, BH-2EA041, BH-2EB740, BH-2ECED3, BH-2F2323, BH-2F74C0, BH-2FA0C8, BH-2FCA68, BH-2FEC65, BH-303421, BH-304DB2, BH-305CD4, BH-307338, BH-30A518, BH-30BA93, BH-30D1D6, BH-56E0B2.
