A cast copper alloy folding clasp component. The clasp frame is a sub-rectangle in plan. The strap bar is a sub-square in section with rounded corners and slightly narrowed. The edge opposite the strap bar has a cast integral human face, with the fringe of the hair forming the interior edge and he is also wearing a crown. The eyebrows are formed by obliquely angles lines; '/ \', the nose is a sub-triangular in high-relief, and there are two circular perforations either side of the neck. The reverse of the face is hollow. The sides of the clasp are slightly convex on the exterior and concave on the interior. The frame has a mid green/grey coloured patina. It measures 37.09mm long and 22.7mm wide. It weighs 7.7g. In Egan and Pritchard (Egan G. and Pritchard F. 2002 Dress Accessories Boydell Press) there is a similar clasp (No. 568) dated to the 13th to mid 14th centuries.
