Two fragments of an Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch. Head-plate fragment has top and side knops cast with brooch (one missing), plano-convex in section, domed in outline with multiple collars; trapezoidal head-plate with worn rectangular wings; inward facing triangular punch-marks at edges of head-plate central panel; reverse retains hinge with iron corrosion from pin. Bow and foot fragment consists of an arched bow, carinated at front and slightly concave at rear; small plain field below defined from tapering terminal by a pair of transverse mouldings, catch on reverse complete, metal very worn and corroded. Helen Geake writes: although this record does not mention that the foot is incomplete, it seems likely that it originally had a narrow horse-head terminal.
