Treasure case No: 2006 T353 Openwork silver-gilt bead, made in two hemispherical hollow sections soldered together as marked by transverse band of cable ornament. The openwork structure made up of foliate spirals with small projecting knops. Wide gilt loop for suspension at the top. Hollow cylindrical setting for another element, now lost, at bottom. Approx 1.5 cm diameter. Weight: 4.2g. Possibly a decorative bead for wearing on the end of a rosary or belt end. Not dissimilar in facture to the Tudor dress-pins of the 16th Century.

Notes:

As it was found before 1997 this falls under the Treasure Trove Act; where evidence would have to point to the object having been deliberately hidden with the intention of recovery. The bead is most likely to be a casual loss, therefore does not constitute Treasure.
