A copper alloy dress accessory which probably dates from the post medieval period. The object is a hollow spherical knop with a diameter of 5.67mm. In the base of the object are four small holes which may be for attachment. The top of the sphere is moulded into square areas with parallel lines filling them, with the direction of the lines at 90 degrees to the lines in the next square creating a chequerboard effect. This tiny object could have been a button, the head of a pin or a bead. The style of manufacture suggests a post medieval date, but it has not been possible to find parallel so the date and function is not certain.
