MORTAR (VESSEL)

Unique ID: LANCUM-F97686

Object type certainty: Probably
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A large, heavy piece of light greay sandstone with a deep hollow in one of the faces. The surface of the inside of the hollowed out section is much smoother to the touch and shows some floury discolouration which suggests that it was a grinding aid. Since it was a stray find without context it is most difficult to date it.
