A worn and damaged medieval cast copper-alloy single-looped buckle frame. The ornate outer edge features a pair of prominent knops, one at each end projecting at an angle of about forty-five degrees. Between them the externally bevelled outer edge is decorated with five transverse grooves. The sides bow outwards, returning to a narrowed and offset pin bar; the pin is missing. One half of the pin bar has been bent downwards as a result of old damage. The bending extends to the adjacent side with has also travelled downwards and inwards slightly. The frame is slightly bevelled internally and externally on its upper surface; the lower surface is largely flat. It has a mid-light green colour as a result of corrosion. A similar buckle can be found illustrated in Egan and Pritchard (1991, 73; ref.: 299). It was found in a context dating to the second half of the 14th century AD.
