TOKEN

Unique ID: BERK-537BE5

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Medieval to Post Medieval (c.1400-1700) cast lead token. The token has a simplistic six-petaled flower on both sides each with a raised central pellet. The token is pierced towards the edge - perhaps for suspension. The exact function of such tokens is uncertain, as is their dating - the recovery of examples with more secure archaeological dating in the future may perhaps shed light on this matter. It seems likely that they were used as pseudo-money, as tickets or perhaps even as gaming pieces.

Evidence of reuse: Pierced (for suspension?)
