Two ceramic amphora sherds of Roman date. One sherd is a handle and the other is a body sherd. The sherds have mildly oxidised buff cores with more oxidised light orange/buff margins and surfaces. The fabric is fairly coarse and sandy. The sherds probably come from a Dressel 20 or similar amphora, which were used to ship olive oil or occasionally preserved olives from southern Spain. These amphorae had large globular bodies and two thick curved handles. Total weight: 435g

Class: Amphora
Sub class: Dressel 20
