HARNESS MOUNT

Unique ID: SF-7E2555

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A worn and corroded heraldic mount, of medieval circa 14th century date. The mount is shield shape with an integral cylindrical rivet projecting from the centre of its back face. It measures 16.14mm in length and 14.37mm in width. The front face has a Lion rampant azure - it has traces of blue enamel within it. There is a trace of gilding on the integral rivet so it is likely that originally the field around the lion was gilded too.
