Incomplete Medieval composite strap-end with forked spacers (1300-1400 AD). The find consists of the plates and forked spacers of a Medieval composite strap-end. Both plates have lost their uppermost edge but the rest of the plate remains, with two rivets concreted in place along the vertical central axis. The terminal of the strap-end has broken off at the collar, but was probably an acorn or collared-knop type. The surface of one of the plates has a bright green patina. The other plate also has a green patina but is covered in far more concretion. The strap-end measures 26.2mm long, 15.7mm wide and 3.1mm thick. It weighs 3.9 grams. Egan and Pritchard (1991) illustrate a number of similar examples, p. 144, and attribute the form to the 14th century AD.
