Copper alloy Roman brooch fragment, Polden Hill variant type. Upper half only, missing pin and almost all spring. Wing ends folded over to enclose the axis bar, 7mm wide enclosed lengths. Spring chord held by rear hook. Wings have 3 grooves at ends and one diagonal. Oval section bow, flattened at front with a panel that has two reserved notched ribs in it. Width 31mm, surviving length 30mm. Type as West Stow no.160 and very like LMD 074 example, except for wing terminals
