Object type certainty: Certain

Post Medieval cast copper alloy double loop oval buckle frame. Both loops are oval with a D-shaped section and flat back. In the centre of each loop's outer edge protrudes a round knop with a flat top and moulded rosette. The strap bar is narrowed and recessed with has pointed knops at either end. There is evidence of the remains of iron corrosion on the strap bar, possibly remains of part of the pin. The buckle is 49.5mm long, 28.6mm wide, and 3.1mm thick; it weighs 7.82 grams. Whitehead (2003) illustrates a similar buckle (p. 66, No. 408) which he dates to c.1550-1650.
