Fragment of Medieval monumental brass of a knight, comprising the left knee in plate armour, the breaks having fractured along the horizontal grooves that denote the top and lower edge of the poleyn or knee protector plate. Length 107mm. Width 68mm. Thickness 2.5 - 3mm. Weight 163g. In fresh condition but some scratching on the front face. Blue staining, probably azurite, along edges of reverse. The style of the poleyn suggests a date between c.1380 and c.1460. It is very likely that the fragment derives from a tomb formerly in Binham Priory (HER 2081).
