Body sherd of a salt glazed earthenware pottery vessel probably dating from the post medieval period (1600 – 1700). Not enough of the sherds survives to be certain of the form, without this a more certain date is difficult to ascertain. The fabric of the sherd is a relatively soft earthenware with a number of small angular and sub-angular grit and quartz inclusions. There is also a large amount of mica in the fabric. The fabric colour of the sherd is a mid brown red colour. The glaze on the outer surface is irregular and a green brown colour with an uneven – textured – salt glazed surface. The inner surface is glazed with a similar – brown green coloured glaze. Due to the smallness of the sherd the diameter of the vessels cannot be estimated. The sherd measures 23.4mm length, 20.7mm width, is 5.1mm thick, and weighs 2.37 grams.
