Copper alloy brooch, Colchester derivative double lug type with fluted sides. Missing half spring, axis bar and pin, otherwise in very good condition. Differs from common examples of the type in being very short, having single grooves on the wing terminals and diagonal slashes on the centre rib which also has a wide cross groove at its end at mid bow. Two fine incised lines are visible on the centre of the lower bow and single lines along the bow edges. The catchplate has a trapezoidal piercing and a slight pin groove. Width 21mm, length 30mm. Hull type 92, Colchester B (Crummy 1983).
