The front surface is raised, and is decorated with three grooves within a chamfered border. The reverse is plain and flat. At the terminal’s widest point there appears the remainder of a square shaft. Its precise function is difficult to determine.
The terminal is silver and of pre-industrial manufacture. It is likely to date from the thirteenth to the fifteenth centuries.
Dimensions: length 15 mm, width 9 mm.
Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
