Medieval cast copper alloy key. Lozenge shaped loop with a rounded knop at the left, right and upper angles, and a constriction at the centre of each side producing a quatrefoil-shaped void in the centre. The shaft extends from the lower angle of the lozenge. There is a triple moulded collar at the junction of the shaft and the loop. The shaft is hollow, sub-circular in section, flattened on the top and bottom with a simple bit of two square-sectioned projections at the end. Fine green-brown patina with some damage revealing a light green surface. Length 91.7mm, width across loop 39.00mm, width across shaft 10.0mm, width across bit 20.61mm, thickness of loop c.4.5mm, thickness of shaft 10.0mm, thickness of bit 6.62mm, weight 54.39g.
