FISH HOOK

Unique ID: SF4070

Object type certainty: Possibly
Workflow status: Published Find published

Copper-alloy hook with suspension loop at top. The loop is circular and of rather thin metal, 6 mm in external diameter and 4 mm in internal diameter. Below, the shaft of the hook is oval in section (3 x 2.5 mm), and runs for about 15 mm before starting to curve. The curve of the hook is in the same plane as the long axis of the oval section and as the plane of the suspension loop, so that the object lies flat. The curve of the hook begins gently but the sharp tip is then suddenly bent up to be parallel to the shaft. There is no barb. The hook is in general rather worn and corroded.
