Cast copper-alloy object of unknown date and function. Oval in section, it is 20 mm long and flares from 11 x 9 mm at the narrower end to 19.5 x 9 mm at the wider end. A central circular perforation runs all the way along the long axis, but is now blocked by iron corrosion (a magnet is slightly attracted). The wider end has a U-shaped cut-out in the centre; the 'shoulders' on either side are slightly expanded and cut into four angled facets. Although the object is very worn, hints of stamped or engraved decoration can be seen. On each of the larger faces, below the U-shaped cut-out, are three ring-and-dot motifs contained within a double-grooved V-shaped border. Outside the border on either side is another line of three ring-and-dots; these rows are separated, on the narrower faces, by a vertical double groove. This decoration suggests a Roman or early-medieval date.
