Small fragment of Roman Samian ware. It is a body sherd measuring 19mm by 18mm. It has broken on all sides and also split, the slip is only present on one face. Some Samian ware was produced in Britain in Colchester c.160AD but in the rest of the Roman empire it was produced from the 1st century BC up to the 3rd century AD. There is no way to know whether this pottery was imported or made in Britain.

    Looking at the photo it looks like South Gaul Region as many had white flecks in the core of the pot and this to me has the same inclusions as the ones I have studied in the past.
